First, our congratulations to the 2009 Honens laureates; Russia's Georgy Tchaidze and Evgeny Starodubtsev, as well as Switzerland's Gilles Vonsattel who, as I've heard, each performed beautifully at last Friday's Honens piano competition. Carl, Worth's founding patriarch, was lucky enough to attend the finals, which he's referred to as "highly inspiring".
Next from Honens, is a unique concert featuring Mussorgsky's "Pictures at an Exhibition" performed by Norway's Leif Ove Andsnes, who's making his Calgary debut, along with visuals by conceptual artist Robin Rhode, who together bring us "Pictures Reframed". People say "amazing" too often, right? Yeah, but this will be AMAZING. Really.
